After such a dreadful Summer you would think I was used to horrible wet and grey days, but I’m not. Up until yesterday we’ve had the most splendid Autumn weather, beautiful clear blue days. There is no better weather to be outside exercising. I’ve looked forward to my daily walk with the dogs, the warm sun on my face or back, the clear blue sky, the tree’s in the park putting on their glorious display of Autumn colour and the crispness of the air.
Until today! It’s been wet, grey, cold, miserable, windy – you know those days that are completely un-inspiring when you’d love to crawl under the doona with a great book and an open fire. Well it used to be a great book, for some now it’s more likely their iPad or Kindle, that’s a whole other blog though.
I didn’t make it to the park today BUT I did still go for a walk. I got out my wet weather jacket, put the leads on the dogs, grabbed a friend and went walking. It wasn’t the most pleasant walk I’ve ever had, but it was one of the more satisfying, because it was on my workout schedule and I did it. I didn’t allow myself to make excuses because of the rain, which I would have done previously – and I’ve even planned to go and get some wet weather pants and doggy jackets tomorrow so there can never be a reason why I can’t go.
One of the things I’ve learnt is consistency is one of the major players when it comes to exercising. Doing less consistently will produce far better results than doing longer sessions sporadically. And if you don’t mind me saying, I’m beginning to see and feel my efforts and it feels fabulous!
This is still meant to be fun though, a lifestyle change that I can maintain so I do have a back up workout plan if the weather is so awful that I can’t get outside. And it is fun, I’m sitting inside now all toasty warm, and feeling on top of the world. In fact I may just reward myself with a little glass of wine, after all isn’t that what living life to the fullest is all about. Cheers my friends, see you sometime tomorrow xx
