The Lady of social media, Pinterest, is having a facelift.

Pinterest the darling of social media sites is changing her looks!

Still keeping her picturesque appeal but improving the dynamics and making the platform even more visually appealing.

Currently in beta testing phase the folks at Pinterest are obviously looking and thinking forward. This new improved version has enlarged selected pins and added more related information, allowing you to explore more easily and engage more with comments and repins.

They have also changed the way you will navigate pages and have moved the category navigation bar from the top to a drop down tab on the top left, click on this and a multitude of image categories, together with pins from pinners you follow, is revealed.

Pinterest has a new look

Pinterest engineer Vy Phan describes on their blog “Pins are bigger and we’ve added more information related to pins, so it’s easier to find things you’re interested in. For example, on each pin, you’ll see pins from the same board, other boards this pin was pinned to, and a whole slew of related pins”.

In addition to the layout they are making some good improvements behind the scenes making the site faster and easier to use.

I certainly think that the larger pins will be a hit, after all, this gives greater space to promote your products and with the related content also showing up next to these pins this allows for more opportunities. With this cross content to your original connections will give more chance for your products or services to be found and lead to more engagement.

One can see that this could also offer up great monetization potential with pinners paying to have their product placed next to to pinners in their niche.

Interesting times – Keep pinning – I will be sure to bring you all the current news.
